Tragedy in Sandakan: Fire Destroys Homes, Leaving Hundreds Displaced
March 6, 2023, a fire engulfed Kg. Cenderamata, Batu Sapi, Sandakan (Sabah), destroyed 90 houses and left over 400 people homeless overnight.
As a result, the community of Kg. Cenderamata in Batu Sapi, Sandakan, is facing an uphill battle towards recovery.
Families are not only dealing with the loss of their homes but also struggling to come to terms with the sudden displacement and the emotional trauma associated with such a tragic event.
Praise Allah for everything, today each family received a mattress, a comforter, pillows, towels, and sarongs from Iltizam Relief.Furthermore, the affected families have been offered temporary shelter in nearby community centers, schools, and mosques.Also, volunteers are working tirelessly to ensure that everyone has access to basic necessities like food, clean water, and medical supplies.Moreover, the gesture not only provides physical comfort but also serves as a reminder that they are not alone in this trying time. In addition, Iltizam Relief distributed mattresses, comforters, pillows, towels, and sarongs to each family today. As a result of this assistance, we have brought happiness and some consolation to over 400 fire survivors who lost everything in this fire.Yayasan Hasanah has shown tremendous generosity by supporting this emergency relief effort. Their contribution has significantly amplified the impact of the relief efforts, allowing for a wider reach and a greater number of families to receive the assistance they desperately need.
