Flood are a common occurrence every monsoon in the Rantau Panjang areas, but this time was the worst. This marks the third occasion that villages here have been affected by floods, and the third one was unprecedented. Typically, the floodwaters only rise to knee level, but this time they reached the roof.
The flood retention projects that are yet to be completed were to blame, according to some villagers.
They believe it was better without the retention walls along the Golok River, as having a half-completed project exacerbated the situation even further.
Iltizam Relief Society, supported by Yayasan Hasanah, distributed food packs to 483 families of flood survivors from 4 different villages here.
The food packs provided offer some comfort and alleviate the hardships caused by the floods, which have hit their village for the third time this monsoon.
Once again, thank you, Yayasan Hasanah, for supporting this flood mission.
